Quick answer:

HighPath, the operating system for fundraising, is the best fundraising software for startups raising across equity, loans, and grants. The other three tools focus on investors: Foundersuite runs investor pipelines, OpenVC offers a free investor workflow, and Visible handles investor updates and fundraising materials.

You have a deck, an investor spreadsheet, and documents in several folders.

The next funding opportunity asks for the same information in a different format. Every repeat draft and missed follow-up takes attention away from the raise.

Where does your fundraising work start over? We compare the same job across four platforms: find suitable capital, reuse company evidence, prepare the next application, and plan for funding that may arrive late or not at all.

See HighPath’s funding workflow and compare its plans and fees before deciding whether you need one investor tool or an operating system for the whole raise. Start your Funding Workspace.

Key Takeaways

  • Choose a workflow first: Investor outreach, funding applications, document sharing, and investor reporting need different capabilities.

  • HighPath covers equity, loans, grants, and alternative funding in one workspace.

  • Free access can still carry limits on outreach, pipeline capacity, files, or users.

  • Compare the billing period and extra charges. An annual-billed monthly equivalent is different from a monthly subscription.

  • Raising across equity, loans, and grants? Start your Funding Workspace to organize the opportunities and preparation behind your next application.

What Does Startup Fundraising Software Do?

Fundraising software helps organize the work involved in raising business capital.

Depending on the product, that includes finding potential funders, tracking conversations, sharing a pitch deck, preparing applications, or reporting progress to existing investors.

An investor CRM manages relationships and follow-ups. A data room shares diligence materials. Application tools help prepare answers and documents. Runway models help you examine funding assumptions.

A product may cover several of these jobs, but a broad feature label does not tell you how each one works.

Equity crowdfunding platforms help run public investment campaigns. Nonprofit tools handle donations. Neither is interchangeable with software for a startup’s investor pipeline, funding applications, and diligence.

How We Compared These Tools

Our assessment covered:

  • Sources: Official product, pricing and help pages, plus nine HighPath-provided product one-pagers, reviewed on October 29, 2026.

  • Recommendations: Analysis of documented workflows and plan limits, not a hands-on product test. Examples below are illustrative, not customer results.

  • Comparison criteria: Discovery, relationship management, documents, application preparation, financial planning, and cost.

  • Unclear capabilities: Where a reviewed source leaves a capability unclear, we identify the limit.

1. HighPath for Raising Across Equity, Loans, Grants, and Alternative Funding

HighPath fundraising software

Best for: Businesses considering several funding routes and bringing opportunity research, diligence, application preparation, and runway planning into one process.

What it covers: HighPath matches your business across investors, banking programs, grants, and alternative financing, then connects each match to business-plan preparation, applications, data rooms, and runway modeling.

The useful distinction is what happens after a match. HighPath organizes the application into sections and questions and tracks completion. Its AI drafts one answer, improves existing wording, or produces a first pass across questions, grounded in your documents. Tasks have owners and statuses, and the finished application exports as a document.

HighPath’s Business Plan module builds a guided outline or a first draft from your uploaded files, with editable sections and Word export. Together, these give you reusable preparation and application writing, rather than just a place to record investor names.

Your team confirms eligibility, reviews every answer, and submits through each funder’s own process. Reusing evidence does not make the same answer suitable for every application.

Pricing:

$150/month or $1,200/year. A 3% fee applies only if your non-dilutive receipts through HighPath-supported opportunities exceed US$100,000 in a calendar year. Once they do, the 3% applies to the full qualifying non-dilutive amount.

Equity is excluded from the contingency fee.

The trade-off: Canadian customers pay CAD and US customers pay USD. Confirm the annual payment schedule before subscribing, and check regional coverage and practical capacity limits.

HighPath’s paid Funding Workspace has a higher starting price than the free tiers below. Launchpad is coming soon: A free, guided roadmap for early-stage Canadian companies, covering business planning, idea validation, business setup and funding preparation. Initial access is planned to be invite-only, with a free AI allowance. Matching shows where your business may fit; it does not establish eligibility or guarantee funding.

Put your next funding opportunity beside the materials it requires. Start your Funding Workspace to organize the research, diligence, and application draft.

2. Foundersuite for Investor Pipelines and Outreach

Foundersuite homepage

Best for: Founders running an investor-led raise who need a structured process for research, conversations, and follow-ups.

What it covers: Foundersuite emphasizes an investor CRM, investor research, email outreach, pitch-deck hosting, and updates. Its pipeline model gives a team a place to organize prospects and track the next action.

Pricing: Basic is free. The reviewed prices are $69/month for Silver, $99 for Gold, and $149 for Platinum. Annual bills are listed as $745, $1,069, and $1,609 respectively. Those annual figures are total charges, rather than monthly equivalents.

The trade-off: Pipeline capacity increases from 75 investors on Basic to 200 on Silver, 1,000 on Gold, and 1,500 on Platinum. These are investors stored per pipeline, rather than the size of the searchable database.

Gold and Platinum list the data room as a paid add-on. Confirm database, export, and introduction entitlements for your tier before buying, since published inclusion wording is not fully consistent.

Workload check: A 100-investor pipeline exceeds Basic’s 75 slots by 25. Silver’s 200 slots cover that list, but storage capacity is not an outreach allowance. Budget separately for a data room if your selected plan requires the add-on.

3. OpenVC for a Free Investor Search and CRM Starting Point

OpenVC homepage

Best for: Founders who want to organize investor research and share a deck before paying for a fundraising subscription.

What it covers: OpenVC lists unlimited investor search, CRM, deck sharing, deck analytics, and team members in its free offering. Premium adds advanced investor filters, an introduction finder, and other preparation resources.

Pricing: The free offering has no subscription charge. Premium is listed at $99/month or $299/year. Compare the length of your raise with the billing option you intend to buy.

The trade-off: Unlimited search is different from unlimited direct outreach. The Submit deck and Send email actions share an allowance of one investor every 24 hours on Free, or five on Premium.

The allowance applies across the company, so adding teammates does not multiply it. Unused submissions do not roll over. Fill form and Find intros fall outside that cap.

Workload check: Contacting 20 investors through the capped actions requires 20 Free allowances or four Premium batches of five. A co-founder shares that capacity. These are sending limits, not estimates of replies, meetings or funding.

4. Visible for Investor Updates and Fundraising Materials

Visible homepage

Best for: Founders who need to communicate progress to investors while managing decks, pipelines, and diligence materials.

What it covers: Visible combines updates, KPI reporting, fundraising pipelines, and document sharing. Starter includes two decks, two pipelines, two users, and one data room with a 25-file limit.

Pricing: Starter is free. Base costs $69/month, Core $149, and Growth $249. With annual billing, the displayed monthly equivalents are $59, $129, and $199 respectively. These are not total annual bills.

The trade-off: Check the capacity that matters to your team. Base expands decks and pipelines and provides one unlimited-file room. Core adds per-slide analytics, three data rooms, three integrations, and unlimited users.

Growth expands rooms and integrations to five and adds advanced permissions.

The 100, 250, 500, and 1,000 figures are recipient capacities. Updates themselves are unlimited. Check recipients, users, analytics, and sharing controls together.

Workload check: A three-person team sharing 30 separate diligence files exceeds Starter by one user and five files. Base lists three users and an unlimited-file room. Count the actual team and package before comparing subscription prices.

How to Compare the Actual Cost

Write down the period you need the software, the capacity you expect to use, and any feature that requires an add-on. Then compare the bill for that configuration. A low entry price alone does not establish the lowest total cost.

Billing example: Visible Base at $59/month with annual billing works out to $708 for a year, compared with $828 for 12 monthly payments at $69. Those are calculations from the published rates, before any applicable taxes or other charges.

Fee example: Under HighPath’s pricing, US$120,000 in qualifying non-dilutive receipts would produce a US$3,600 contingency fee, plus the subscription. Equity raised alongside it carries no HighPath contingency fee; the subscription still applies.

The calculation uses the full qualifying amount after the threshold is exceeded, rather than only the US$20,000 above it.

Keep currency and billing basis visible when comparing these figures. Vendor dollar labels do not establish that every price uses the same currency. Confirm the amount, payment schedule, add-ons, and cancellation terms before committing.

Where Does Your Fundraising Work Start Over?

Illustrative task: A founder is weighing an equity raise, a bank loan and a grant. They have a business plan, financial records and a deck. The job is to shortlist suitable funding, adapt supporting evidence, and prepare the next submission.

Here is where each documented workflow helps with that same task. A capability not documented in the sources reviewed is not proof that a product cannot provide it.

HighPath: Matches your business across equity, loans, grants, and alternative funding, then drafts application answers from your documents, with shared tasks and export.

Foundersuite: Research investors, track conversations, share a deck and organize diligence.

Loan/grant answer drafting from company documents was not documented in reviewed sources.

OpenVC: Find investors, manage outreach and share a tracked deck. Fill form directs you to the investor’s form.

The form handoff is not documented as drafting the application from your company files.

Visible: Manage investor pipelines, updates, decks and data rooms.

Loan/grant answer drafting from company documents was not documented in reviewed sources.

The distinction is evidence reuse versus evidence storage. A CRM can track the lender and a data room can share the financials. Neither alone demonstrates how an application answer is drafted from those financials.

Ask HighPath for a walkthrough using a document you choose, and see which facts carry straight into the answer.

Can Your Cash Plan Survive if Funding Does Not Arrive?

As I noted in my LinkedIn post on cash-flow forecasts:

“Most cashflow forecasts aren’t wrong because the math is bad. They’re wrong because they only run one scenario with one closing date.”

HighPath’s Runway module models baseline, growth and stress scenarios, plus potential funding with an approval probability. A probability is a modeling assumption, not evidence that a funder will approve you.

Illustrative numbers: $120,000 in cash at $20,000 monthly net burn gives six months of runway. A $60,000 grant would add three months only if received, with burn unchanged. A pending application does not make that cash available.

Ask to see the same plan with funding on time, delayed, and absent. Then identify which spending decision changes before cash runs out. This evaluates the funding dependency, rather than simply choosing the largest possible award.

For Canadian businesses, include your province, industry, stage, and intended funding route in that test. A global investor database and a locally relevant program shortlist answer different questions.

When a Spreadsheet May Be Enough

A spreadsheet may work for a short list with one clear owner, simple follow-ups, and an established place for documents. Consider adding software when maintaining the process starts taking time away from funding conversations or application work.

Before switching, identify the specific problem you want to solve. That makes it easier to judge whether a paid plan removes enough work to justify its cost.

Prepare for the Raise You Are Running

Return to your deck, spreadsheet, and document folders. Which missing connection is slowing the raise: finding a fit, preparing evidence, following up, or sharing progress?

Your next opportunity should not require rebuilding preparation from scratch. Choose the tool that preserves useful evidence, makes the remaining work clear, and fits a cash plan that does not depend on an unapproved award.

Start your Funding Workspace and prepare for your next funding opportunity.
